Schiffmacher Royal Delft Blue Tattoo Collection

During a violent storm in Burrington Combs, England, in 1763, a terrified minister's wife sat in a crevice in the rock waiting for the bad weather to pass. In her anguish, she felt so close to God that she wrote the Hymn Rock of Ages. One of the big themes that you always see in the tattoo. The image symbolizes the last place where the sailor can go as a castaway. Many see this as the time of death.

Delft Blue pottery and tattoos may not be the most obvious combination, but they have more in common than thought. The similarities are: origin, meaning, craft and mastery. Especially for this collaboration, Henk Schiffmacher has created a number of unique objects with the master painters of Royal Delft, where the two worlds literally intersect. This sign is an ode to the love tattoo.
