Schiffmacher Royal Blue Tattoo Collection

During a violent storm in Burrington Combs, England, in 1763, a terrified minister's wife sat in a rock crevice waiting for the bad weather to pass. In her anguish, she felt so close to God that she wrote the Rock of Ages Hymn. One of the big themes that you keep seeing in the tattoo. The image symbolizes the last place the shipwrecked sailor can go. Many see in this the time of death.

Delft Blue pottery and tattoos may not be the most obvious combination, but they have more in common than you might think. The similarities are: origin, meaning, craft and mastery. Henk Schiffmacher has created a number of unique objects especially for this collaboration with the master painters of Royal Delft, where the two worlds literally cross each other. This plate is an ode to the love tattoo.
